About Us
Deborah Pergament
Deborah is the managing attorney of Children’s Law Group. Deborah also serves as a Clinical Instructor at DePaul University College of Law where she directs the Special Education Advocacy Clinic. Prior to founding Children’s Law Group, Deborah was an Assistant Public Guardian in the Office of the Public Guardian of Cook County. Deborah is known for her success in representing parents and students in special education matters during the IEP process and in litigation. She is best-known for her work on behalf of children with cochlear implants and those affected by autism spectrum disorders, visual impairments, and genetic syndromes. She is also a respected attorney in the area of adoption law and highly regarded for her work representing educational and health care professionals and organizations.
Deborah has served as a member of the Illinois State Bar Association's Section on Education Law and chaired its Committee on Special Education. She served on the Board of Directors of the Family Defense Center, a not-for-profit child and family advocacy foundation. She is a past chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Mental Health and Disability Law Committee. She currently serves on the Executive Board of the Decalogue Society of Lawyers. Deborah is also a member of the Board of Directors of Child’s Voice School and the President of the Board of Directors of Camp One in a Hundred, Inc.
Deborah holds a bachelor's degree in history with high honors from Mount Holyoke College, masters' degrees in history and library science from Indiana University and earned her law degree from Case Western Reserve University.
