Marissa J. LaVette

Marissa LaVette is an attorney with Children’s Law Group, concentrating on adoption, probate, and special education matters. Marissa’s devotion to uniting families through adoption stems from her large extended family which includes several adopted family members. She became a strong advocate for individuals with disabilities in college and afterwards, through her work with adults with disabilities in a residential setting. These experiences have driven Marissa to diligently advocate for her clients to resolve their legal matters.
 
In addition to her position with Children’s Law Group, Marissa also holds a position with DePaul University College of Law where she coordinates and supervises the Domestic Violence Project student volunteer program. She also serves as a Guardian ad Litem for adult guardianship cases in Cook County.   Marissa is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois.
 
Marissa received her Bachelor's of Science with Distinction in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned her law degree from DePaul University College of Law.
